About the Role
We are seeking a full-time, permanent Pig Specialist to join our farm near Maramarua. The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year’s experience working with pigs in an intensive/indoor production system.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Farm Manager, your primary duties will include:
- Demonstrating best practices in animal handling, health, and welfare
- Moving, drafting, and weighing pigs while ensuring accurate records are maintained
- Performing health checks, providing appropriate nutrition, and administering treatments
- Managing the daily care of pigs to ensure their comfort and well-being
- Documenting animal movements, breeding statistics, and health reports.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Minimum of one year’s experience working with pigs in an intensive/indoor production system
- Possess strong written and numerical skills for accurate data recording
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively collaborate within a team
- Maintain physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
- Have a proactive approach to animal welfare and a strong attention to detail
- Hold a valid driver's licence
- Bachelors Degree in Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine would be an advantage.

- Remuneration based on experience in the pig industry, ranging from $23.50 to $30 per hour
- Work hours will vary between 32 to 60 hours per week, on a rotating roster that includes weekends and public holidays
