We are seeking a manager for our 300 sow indoor/ outdoor pig farm located in the Waimakariri district, approximately 3/4 hour out of Christchurch.
This is a hands-on on working manager's position which will involve all aspects of pig farming, including daily stock management, ai, stock selection, farrowing, milling, feeding, record keeping etc etc.
This position would suit someone with previous management experience or someone who has held senior stockperson roles and is looking to make the next step up to management. Key requirements are proven management of stock and staff, accurate record keeping, ensuring high stock welfare standards at all times an eye for selection of breeding and finishing stock.
Experience with different feeds and feeding systems, workplace health and safety awareness, tractor and machinery experience, ensure farm biosecurity.
The farm is located 1/2 - 1 hour's drive away from ski fields, mountains, rivers and lakes and is close to several towns.
