Finishing Unit Logistics Manager

Location: 10 minutes north of Hawarden, North Canterbury

Salary: Starting from $30/hr based on experience

About Us:  Our vision at Patoa Farms is “pig farming with excellence to bless our people, community and industry partners”.  We pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainable farming practices, superior animal welfare, and industry leading practices.  As New Zealand’s largest pig farm, Patoa Farms has a team of around 60 people to help with the management of approximately 5,000 breeding sows.

Role Overview: As the Finishing Unit Logistics Manager, you will oversee the efficient operation of our finishing sheds, ensuring that pigs are properly cared for, sorted for weight, and prepared for sale.  This role involves leading a team of approximately 6 people, coordinating logistics, and ensuring that all processes meet our high standards for quality and efficiency. Most of your time will be hands on working with the animals and managing the work of the team.  You will also liaise with the other managers to coordinate the supply of pigs to various markets within New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team in the day-to-day management of the finishing sheds
• Ensure pigs are sorted accurately and efficiently for sale to various markets
• Monitor and maintain the quality and welfare standards for all pigs in the finishing sheds
• Develop and implement logistical plans to optimize workflow and meet production targets
• Conduct regular inspections and maintain meticulous records related to pig management and shed operations
• Analyse operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions
• Work under pressure to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
