Australian Based Research – The Pork CRC

New Zealand Pork is a core partner of the Australian Pork Cooperative Research Centre (CRC). The CRC is a partnership of 40 Industry Organisations, Central and State Governments and Commercial Companies. After 7 succesful years of operation the Australian Federal Government announced in December 2010 that the Pork CRC has been funded for a further 8 years as the CRC for High Integrity Australian Pork. The government funding of $20 million is matched by $18 million in cash and $64 million of in-kind funding from the 40 partners.

TheCRC for High Integrity Australian Pork has four research programs:

  1. Confinement free sow and piglet management
  2. New generation health management and antibiotic reduction
  3. Healthy pork consumption
  4. Carbon-conscious inputs and outputs
