In the late1990’s the UK banned the use of dry sow stalls. So how has the UK pork industry coped? With a number of NZ producers about to make some changes to their housing systems what can we learn from their experiences?

Key note speaker: Professor Sandra Edwards, Professor of Agriculture, University of Newcastle. Sandra has been involved in applied research for more than 25 years on a range of projects on pig housing, welfare, nutrition and management. She is active on a number of international advisory committees and author of over 400 scientific presentations. In 2009 she received the David Black Award from the British Pig Executive for an important and sustained contribution to the British pig industry.

Board Meetings

The New Zealand Pork Industry Board meets 2 monthly in February, April, June, August, October and December. Contact your local director for more information

Director Elections

Registered producers are entitled to nominate candidates and to vote for Directors. Voting entitlement is based on the number of pigs farmed as at 31 March.

Annual District Meetings

Annual regional meetings are held in each region in late June. At these meetings registered producers elect regional office holders, elect delegates to the Annual General Meeting, and agree on remits to be presented to the Annual General Meeting. Details will be sent to registered producers. Registration forms are available here.
